About the project
The Karate Girl is a three-minute documentary I directed and edited for #HerStory, a contest run by Shirkat Gah, the women’s resource centre, and Dawn Images. It follows a young karate athlete through her training, her sparring and the medals and trophies she has won.
The film was made in 2023 under Last Myle Films. It was screened at the #HerStory event in Karachi and at the University of Balochistan in Quetta, at an event coordinated by Dawn Images, Shirkat Gah and the Canadian High Commission in Pakistan.
