About the project

Part one

Our first documentary in Balochistan followed out-of-school children taking an accelerated education programme to prepare for entry into mainstream schools. Their journeys gave us a story about opportunity, progress, and the value of returning to learning.

Filming in the region brought practical challenges, alongside the opportunity to work within its extraordinary landscapes. We wanted that sense of place to support the story while keeping the children and their education at its centre.

Part two

Following the first documentary, we were invited to continue the story in a second film. Returning to the project meant building on an established understanding of its purpose while finding a practical approach to a more constrained production.

This time, we worked with a smaller crew and a need to keep disruption to a minimum. It called for a focused approach, with the team working closely together to capture the story while respecting the spaces and routines around us.
